AWAKENING
We, as humans, are not
perfect, very capable of making mistakes. Our perspective on
life can be flawed or imperfect. Any truth measured against any
of us will be lacking in accuracy. Only God is perfect and His
Holy Writ is filled with actual truth.

Therefore Holy Writ should be
the only measuring stick that all truth and our actions should
be measured against. People often live by what excites them or
gives them a "warm fuzzy feeling." If they knew that something
extremely important or very exciting was awaiting them in the
morning, they would not silence the alarm clock and return to
sleep. Instead, they jump out of bed, anticipating the special
event.
Just as people often resist
being awakened from physical sleep, they are much more
resistant being awakened from spiritual sleep. If they did
something that was wrong, they justify their actions by stating
that it was done for the "right" reason or for a "good cause."
This, in their mids makes everything they did alright. These
individuals fervently hold to the false belief that everything
they do is right.
Under such circumstances,
these people are the ones who believe that their ways are
"right" because they are right in their own eyes, behaving as
if the world literally revolves around them – not the sun. This
belief that every way of a man is right in his own eyes is a
poor foundation for determining what is true or not true, right
or wrong, or good or bad. In short, they have not been
spiritually awakened.

Many people have moments of
spiritual awakening, only to ignore them and return to the
comfort of their previous routine. If only we knew and
understood that spiritual arousal elevates people, we would
welcome the arousal call. We would not shut off the alarm clock
and return to sleep, rather, we'd jump out of our lethargic
bed, anticipating the greatest event a human being could ever
experience: awakening by the Spirit Of Holiness.
We can only draw strength to
overcome our problems that hold us captive, making us look at
or be concerned only with "me, mine, what I want and and what
makes me feel good" issues by stepping outside of ourselves and
take other people and other things into account.
God himself has said that we,
including you and me, are the greatest of his creations.
"This is why I
tell you: do not be worried about the food and drink you
need in order to stay alive, or about clothes for your
body. After all, isn't life worth more than food? And
isn't the body worth more than clothes? Look at the
birds; they do not plant seeds, gather a harvest and put
it in barns; yet your Father in heaven takes care of
them! Aren't you worth much more than birds? Can any of
you live a bit long by worrying about it? And why worry
about clothes? Look how the wild flowers grow; they don't
work or make clothes for themselves. But I tell you that
not even King Solomon and all his wealth had clothes as
beautiful as one of these flowers. It is God who clothes
the wild grass ~ grass that is here today and gone
tomorrow, burned up in the oven. Wouldn't He be all the
more sure to clothe you?" (Matthew 6:25-28 - Today's
English Version).
By taking a look outside of
ourselves at the world we live in, we can see how the simplest
things around us are taken care of by an awesome God. Once we
look outside of ourselves, we can step back inside ourselves
with a new perspective, Spiritual Awakening. A Spiritual
Awakening that gives us a true measuring stick of what is right
or wrong, good or bad. And the one that holds that measuring
stick, as we learn to depend upon Him takes care of birds and
lilies, how much more he will do for us? ~ CiCi
